Our Committees

In order to better serve the needs of our members and community, the East Harris County Manufacturers Association has developed ten committees that focus on specific activities and critical issues for our industry and stakeholders

  • Channel Industries Mutual Aid

    CIMA Co-Chair: Ray Russell, Dow Chemical and Pete Greco, Lyondell-Basell  The mission of Channel Industries Mutual Aid (CIMA) is to provide cooperative assistance and expertise for all kinds of emergencies--both natural and man-made to industry along the Houston Ship Channel.

    Community Emergency Communications

    Committee Chair: Tom Narbit, PPG Industries

    The mission of the Community Emergency Communications Committee (CECC) is to identify, understand and resolve the issues regarding responsible agency notification, community warning systems, the CAER Line and media communication during industrial emergencies in the Greater Houston area.

    Community Relations

    Committee Chair: Philip Starr, Air Liquide

    The mission of the Community Relations Committee is to provide communications and community relations support to the East Harris County Manufacturer Association programs, projects and issues.

    Environmental

    Committee Chair: Marise Textor, TPC Group

    The mission of the Environmental Committee is to benchmark successful environmental practices between member companies. We address special projects as requested by the Association board of directors.

    Industry Training

    Committee Chair: Audrey Tran, Bayer

    The mission of the Industry Training committee is to focus on competency development of new and incumbent operators and maintenance crafts.  The committee is also focused on industry awareness by educating students, teachers and educators at all levels about the profession.

    Legislative

    Committee Chair: Chris Hext, Lubrizol

         
    The mission of the Legislative Committee is to provide the EHCMA Board and member companies with opportunities to develop relationships with local, state and federal elected officials, and to participate in advocacy initiatives organized by the Texas Chemical Council (TCC) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC).

    Odor Network Committee

    Committee Chair: Herman Rogers, Merisol

    The mission of the Odor Reporting Network is to address citizen concerns about odors in East Harris County.  This odor-reporting network represents a voluntary effort by local industry to help companies identify and eliminate odor sources.  It is also intended as a voluntary public service to provide citizens with an immediate means of alerting companies of odor concerns.

    Outreach

    Committee Chair: Open

    The mission of the East Harris County Manufacturers Association (EHCMA) Outreach Committee is to coordinate communication exchange and to facilitate association programs between the EHCMA Board and the respective outreach area members.

    Programs

    Committee Chair: Neely Nelson, ExxonMobil

    The Program Committee organizes quarterly meetings for the association that provide valuable information for members in addition to creating a forum for interaction and networking with leaders from legislative and governmental agency groups.

    Security

    Committee Co-Chairs: Gary Scheibe, Shell, and Rick Deel, Lubrizol Corporation

    The Security Committee, in association with local, state and federal law enforcement, benchmarks and communicates best security practices to members and serves as a rapid and effective conduit of information between law enforcement and companies.  The committee aims to reduce the likelihood of adverse effects on employees, community, and the environment due to criminal acts.
